Improve the Ease of Using Microsoft Word 2007

You may have different uses for Microsoft Office Word 2007. Sometimes, changing the view of your word processor, based on the function you are using the program for, can enhance your manageability of data. On the bottom right-hand corner of your Microsoft Office Word 2007 screen, you will see five buttons; put the mouse over them to see what they are for: print layout, full screen reading, web layout, outline, and draft. Each of these views can be used for different purposes.

Personally, I use “print layout” when I want to see the progress of my writing as I type. If I am trying to stay under or over a certain page count or word count, “print layout” mode shows me the parameters to stay in; I can see my progress as I type. When under this mode, I like to make the top and bottom margins disappear; they take up space and don’t let me see as much of my work at one time. To make the top and bottom margins disappear while you are typing (but not while you print or send to other people), hold the cursor over the very top of the on-screen paper (right below the ruler) until the cursor turns into two arrows. Double-click, and the margins will temporarily disappear while you work. To make them come back, repeat the procedure. This helps me see more of my typing at once, while also ensuring I stick to my page or word parameters.

Next to that is “full screen reading.” I like to use this when I’m simply reading documents. This mode minimizes the amount of scrolling needed while maintaining the original format of the paper. Under this mode, there are many options (see “view options” in the top right corner of the screen) to change the way you look at documents. For example, you can choose to view one or two pages at a time, allow or disallow typing, and more.

Then there is the “web layout” mode. This is my favorite mode for taking notes, typing random brainstormed ideas, and organizing research. “Web layout” allows you to see a full screen of your work while still maintaining all of the same Word functions (such as font changes, footnotes, and symbols). This is a great way to see as much of your typed data as possible without scrolling, though it doesn’t show the format of your typing. Don’t forget, though, that when you print from “web layout” mode, you’ll still get the format you would have under “print layout” – you just can’t see it.

“Outline” hasn’t been a useful mode for me personally, but I can see how others would benefit from using it. This mode automatically bullet-points all of your information. This is likely great for brainstorming ideas, writing task lists, and more.

Finally, “draft mode” can be used for documents that you don’t expect to be final editions. This keeps the basic layout and keeps Word functions, but pushes all of the typing to the left side of the screen, so that the whole right side can be used for comments, changes, etc. To make changes, add comments, and more, click on the “review” tab at the top of your Word 2007 screen (don’t forget that you can make changes in any mode; they are just easier to see all at once in this mode).

So there are several different modes to use when using Microsoft Office Word 2007. Give some of them a try; you’ll notice a great difference in the ease of typing!

Teach2000 - Free Flashcard software

Do you have a test coming up that you need to memorize a bunch of facts or questions rather quickly? Do you hate having to go through the petty process of creating flash cards?
Teach 2000 is here to the rescue, with this software you can quickly and easily create Flash cards on your computer and then quiz yourself immediately after wards. The only thing you need to know to get started is that you separate your question from the answer with an equals sign (=) and whatever is before the equals sign is what the software will ask you.
This software is very flexible and allows you to select a certain number of questions or facts to be asked at any given time. Also featured is a very effective memorizing method called "interval training". This type of training will repeatedly ask you the same 3-5 questions until you start getting them right. Best of all this software is a free download and can be obtained here.

Microsoft to offer free antivirus

It appears that software giant Microsoft is going to offer a free antivirus program. This is some interesting news. After all of the buzz surrounding their browser bundling in Europe, I am wondering what will come of this. By no means am I a die hard Microsoft fan, but I think they should be able to pretty much bundle whatever (within reason) they want with their operating system. If people do not like it, then use or install something else. That simple. If the smaller companies are worried that they won't get the market share because a certain MS application is the default, then properly inform the consumers on how to change over to their product. Anyways......that is my 2 cents.

Can't get the distance right?

How many times have we put up projectors, be it video or transparency, and have to move it back and forth to get the right size with the best look and quality? Well Sanyo is becoming a lead in making projectors that can just about be against the wall. The latest product in Sanyo's line up of short-throw projectors was amazing. It is so new that they haven't even given it a name or model number to go by. The "bench" is exactly what it sounds like. It is 93- x 20- x 25-inches and looks like a bench that is able to project a 100 inch 1080p image with just 24 inches between it and the wall it is projecting to. The best part is that you can even go up to 150 inch. image by just adding a little more space from the wall. Mind you this is true 1080p, it isn't a blown up version but is as though you were in a movie theater. Price is not even thought about right now, neither about when or where these could be found. The press conference stated that the majority of these projectors will be used for education, halls, and events where the stage is very compressed. I think that even though many projectors are becoming more and more HD that this unit will even get better and smaller. Since the pico projector, only being the size of a computer mouse, was introduced more and more projectors are becoming smaller and more affordable to not only big events and schools but to the point where the everyday consumer will be able to have one or more in their own house. So it will be exciting to see where and how far Sanyo will be taking this design and how it will do in the economy that we are in.

Bad News For Heavy Internet Users

Bad news for those of you who love streaming, heavy downloading, or gaming online.

In Texas, and North Carolina, time warner cable is starting to put a cap on web data consumed. It should not be in affect in these states until the summer. My hope is that it will not spread to Ohio for quite some time! personally I have moved to all television and movie watching to be done online from here on out saving me a boatload of money for just using internet instead of cable television plus the internet cost. it is presumed that a cap of 50GB would be anywhere from 50 to 60 dollars. Considering streaming a full movie costs around 1 gigabyte on top of my increasing need for internet use for schooling and almost all of my music needs, this is hardly enough.
hopefully this doesn't become a trend with all the DSL companies.
